LCI Language Centers offers affordable English classes offer for adults who want to study English in Houston, Texas. During this blog, we can discuss the different types of ESL programs that are offered at LCI.
Group Intensive English Program
Most of our students are part of the Group Intensive English Program. This ESL program includes 18 hours of study, Monday through Thursday (there is no school on Fridays), with a class of up to 10 peers. At LCI, we keep our class sizes smaller so you can receive the maximum amount of personal attention and actively participate in the lessons. We will have a diverse population in each classroom, so we do enforce “English Only” when you are in the school. We have seven levels of English classes, and our administrative team will give you a placement test before you start with LCI, to see which of those seven levels you will start in. You will be in that level for the nine-week term of LCI. At the end of the nine-week term, you will take your final exams; if you pass, you will move to the next level at the next start date. (See School Calendar for Term Dates.) LCI’s Intensive English Program includes a Reading class, a Grammar class, and a Listening and Speaking class. We do offer a Writing class that can be added to these core classes if you prefer our Academic English program.
Private Classes
LCI Language Centers offers private classes that are set up for your convenience. With private classes you will have one on one time with a private English teacher, who will create the lesson plans from your needs. You pick the days, the times, and the location of when the studies take place. (Feel free to call us directly at 832-571-1007 for more details.) Keep in mind if you are an F1 Student Visa holder, this can only be added to your core group classes of 18 hours. It cannot be a stand-alone class to keep your I-20 active. However, if you are a resident or a green card holder, you can take as many private classes as you would like without having to take the group core classes. LCI also offers TOEFL Preparation, IELTS Preparation, University English Preparation, as well as Business English and Executive English Private classes.
