Teaching Method

Since 1995, we have made quality teaching the cornerstone of all the programs at LCI. Look at our staff biographies on this website. You’ll see that our faculty have outstanding education, experience, and professionalism. Over 50% of our faculty have a Master’s degree or higher; the rest have a Bachelor’s degree with a TESL, TEFL, CTEFLA, CTESOL, CBEST or CELTA. All of our faculty have lived and studied or worked in other countries, speak at least one other language fluently, and have multiple years of experience.

All students who enroll at LCI take an on-line placement test and receive an oral interview to accurately assess their level. Students are then placed in the appropriate level of their program. For each level, we regularly review our teaching materials to ensure that we choose the best and most up-to-date books, CDs, DVDs, and on-line tools.

Still, what is most important at LCI is our students and their classroom experience every day. Our ESL programs focus on developing the students’ English proficiency in grammar, listening/speaking, reading, and writing.  We work to balance our students’ progress in fluency and accuracy in every class, every day.

To do this, our teachers use a variety of activities together with our materials to challenge and activate our students. We create a student-centered classroom that allows our students to ask questions and take risks in an open, friendly environment.

Learning at LCI does not stop when class is over.  A cultural component to assist students in their adaptation to life in the United States is part of all language programs at LCI.  We  organize several activities every month to help our students use their English in the real world, and to have fun while they are doing it.
